Poem.
--

She cries when no one else is around,
Never letting out, even the smallest sound.
The lonely night seems to be her only friend,
The time when her confessions never end.

She cries when her heart aches,
Longing for something to punch, to break.
The quiet room is her only escape,
The place where there isn’t a drop of hate.

She cries when she thinks about life,
Knowing she’s had one, two, and even three strikes.
The soothing lullaby she sometimes sings,
Is the only thing that plucks at her heartstrings.

She cries when she watches the news,
Realizing another life was taken, always feeling pain and wondering whose.
The tears she cries are often for another,
Sometimes a friend, maybe a brother

She cries when she thinks about family,
Thinking about the endless insanity.
The things she wishes she had,
Like a loving mom and dad.

She cries and wishes away the pain,
Wishing for something out of life to gain.
Letting out a strangled sob, one more tear,
She finds herself hoping she makes it another year.

She cries when she takes a look around,
And catches a glimpse of her everlasting frown.
Closing her eyes, she catches her breath,
And prepares herself for life’s next test.
